Everything You Need to Know About the New 2020 Toyota Corolla
Toyota’s 2020 Corolla will be its 12th generation Corolla model — unmatched by any other model thus far. The new 2020 Corolla is set to be a complete redesign with only a few similarities between the 2020 and the 2019 versions. Many Corolla enthusiasts ask, “What could make the Corolla even better?” Well, this is what Toyota promises to deliver in 2020:
The new 2020 Corolla boasts a bold new styling with a dynamic grille pattern, J-shaped bi-beam LED headlights, daytime running lights, LED taillights that come in different profiles according to the Corolla variant and alloy wheels that come in 18-inch or 16-inch sizes and with bolder fender flares.
The styling is still elegant but flaunts a new athletic façade. Since many different variants are in demand, Toyota will be offering six variants to the 2020 model: The L, LE, XLE (which feature a 1.8-liter engine), S, SE and XSE (which feature a 2.0-liter engine).
The new model will be based on Toyota’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. This will help cut down on the design cycle time by providing a common platform used by all Toyota Cars, on which standardized Toyota parts are used. This platform allows for improved engineering that allows better forward vision, a better center of gravity, safety and comfort.
The new 2020 Corolla is set to deliver higher power and torque with its newly designed engine. The 2.0-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine produces an impressive 169 hp and 151 lb.-feet of torque, paired to either a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) or a six-speed manual transmission (available in the SE variant.)
That’s much more powerful than the 2019 Corolla which delivered only 132 hp from its 1.8-liter four-cylinder CVT engine. Given all this power, one might wonder whether the car can at all be fuel efficient, but surprisingly, it is! The 2020 Corolla promises to deliver a solid 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. In contrast, the 2019 Corolla only provides 28 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
Another unique aspect of the 2020 Corolla is that it comes as a hybrid variant as well. It will be powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that works hand-in-hand with two high torque battery operated motors, which are paired with a CVT. The hybrid delivers a sweet 53 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway.
The Entune 3.0 multimedia system provides the infotainment for all 2020 Corolla models. The controls are placed at the center with either a seven- or eight-inch touchscreen. Features include audio, navigation and vehicle settings. Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Scout GPS, Safety Connect, Verizon’s Wi-Fi, and a six-speaker sound system are all part of the 2020 Corolla.
On the whole, the 2020 Corolla is more fun, more engaging and more stylish with an athletic stance, this car is the benchmark for future hatchbacks and sedans. Come check it out at Henderson Toyota!
