While California and the West Coast get all the love on social media, they aren’t the only places for stunning drives. The next time you want to hit the road in search of the best scenery, check out these three scenic East Coast drives.
The Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is the most popular of the East Coast scenic drives and one of the most visited places in the nation. It stretches between two states and offers some of the most incredible views in America. The Parkway starts in Virginia in Shenandoah National Park and ends in North Carolina near Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From start to finish, the Parkway is full of unique scenery. Along the way, you’ll find dozens of pullovers, perfect for photo opportunities. Plus, you’ll drive through multiple tunnels and pass by popular cities and attractions like Roanoke, VA, Asheville, NC, the Biltmore Estate and countless breweries, trailheads and much more.
The Blue Ridge Parkway isn’t the only mountain drive on the East Coast that draws a crowd. Skyline Drive covers 105 miles of the beautiful Shenandoah National Park and presents drivers with an abundance of gorgeous scenery. Beginning in Front Royal, VA, the road heads south, ending in Rockfish Gap, VA, including 75 overlooks along the way. The Overseas Highway on U.S. 1 in Florida
If you prefer the beach to the mountains, then you can’t top the Overseas Highway on U.S. 1 in Florida. Starting in Miami and ending in Key West, this scenic drive spans 113 miles and features 42 bridges and all the blue ocean water you could dream of. Once you reach the end of the highway in Key West, grab some authentic Key Lime Pie and hit the beach!
