Car Cleaning Hacks to Make Your Cleaning Last
Your car can get very messy during the winter season and many people find it impossible to clean the car in freezing temperatures. The arrival of warm weather gives you an opportunity to clean your car thoroughly and get it ready for upcoming road trips. Here are some cool cleaning hacks that can help your cleaning efforts last.
Your car is not meant for storage but we forget many things inside the car and it often becomes a mess by the arrival of warm weather. The first thing you need to do is take a trash bag and get rid of unwanted things like food wrappers from your car. Next, remove the interior carpets for cleaning. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck the dirt from the car floor, corners and crevices. You can use a damp cloth to clean the seats. If you see any stains on the seat covers, use any recommended mild cleanser to wipe off stains.
The console needs your attention too. Take a damp cloth and run it across the console. Make sure the cloth is not dripping water as it will affect electrical connections. Similarly, clean the dashboard as well. The compartments in the car need cleaning too. Empty all compartments, including the glove box and get rid of any unwanted things. Use a damp cloth to clean the compartments from the inside out. Put important things back in their place after cleaning out the compartments. You need to also get rid of any trash in the trunk and use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of any dirt.
You need to use an acid-free solution to wash off the dirt from the exterior of the car. However, while doing so, make sure the cleaning solution does not damage the paint of the car in any way or strip away the protective wax coating. Available commercial cleansers are good to remove salt and grime from the car’s body. Use a soft cloth and dip it in the cleansing solution to gently clean off the dirt. After you have scrubbed off the dirt and grime, you can use a high-pressure hose to clean off the solution and dirt from the car’s body. To clean the tires and rims, prepare a solution using liquid dish soap (1 spoon) and hot water (small bucket). Before using the cleansing solution, hose down any loose dirt from the tires and rims. You can use a hard brush to scrape off stubborn dirt and grime from tires. To clean the rims, use a microfiber cloth dipped in the solution. Use a toothbrush to clean hard to reach areas inside the rims.
If you see any dust and dirt on your headlights, wash it off with water. You can use toothpaste or use commercially available cleaning kits to clean hazy headlights. You can also use sandpaper to clean off the haze but you need to be careful and cover the surrounding paintwork with tape. You need to wet the headlight and 400-grit sandpaper with warm water before cleaning. Rub the sandpaper in a circular motion and ensure the headlight and sandpaper are wet during the cleaning process.
